The organisation requires the services of a Programme Manager: Tourism IT Systems to be based at Groenkloof National Park, Pretoria.

Key Objectives:

  •  Provide guidance and strategic input into the conceptual development and prioritization of IT Tourism Systems deliverables.
  • Manage the implementation of Tourism IT systems projects.
  • Manage Tourism IT systems inter-dependencies and risk mitigation.
  • Ensure an enabling environment for effective change management and realisation of projected objectives.
  •  Develop and manage governance processes, in order to ensure integrity of the project.
  •  Manage a diverse group of stakeholders’ expectations and provide progress reports.
  •  Develop and manage programmes communication plans.
  • Manage the programme’s budget and monitor and report on expenditure.
  • Lead, manage and coach the human capital in the unit, in order to ensure that the unit is efficient and staffed to achieve the programme objectives.
  • Manage and ensure that the developed software meets the expectations of the project.
  • Planning and designing the programme and proactively monitoring its progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action.
  • Ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the programme – focusing inwardly on the internal consistency of the programme, and outwardly on its coherence with infrastructure planning, interfaces with other programmes and corporate, technical and specialist standards.
  • Ensuring the delivery of new products or services from projects is to the appropriate level of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the programme plan and programme governance arrangements.
  • Ensuring there is allocation of common resources and skills within the programme’s individual projects.
  • Managing third party contributions to the programme.
  • Managing communications with all stakeholders.
  • Managing both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects.
  • Initiating extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the programme are identified or issues arise.
  • Reporting the progress of the programme at regular intervals.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  •  Be in possession of a 3-year Diploma /Degree in Computer Science or Information and Technology and a Diploma /Degree/ certification in Project Management (PMP or Prince2 Practitioner).
  • Should have 5 – 8 years’ experience in Project Management of Software and Systems related projects. Of which, at least 2 years managing projects using the agile project management methodology.
  • Should have excellent relationship building ability and track record in creating mutually beneficial partnering within the corporate sector.
  • Should have in-depth understanding of IT systems.
  • Good knowledge of programme management and project management methods including PMBOK and PRINCE2.
  • Good knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring, and controlling programmes.
  • Good understanding of PFMA and National Treasury procurement regulations including the ability to negotiate with potential suppliers.
  • Understanding of client facing software delivery life cycle (SDLC) management at programme level, specifically agile as well as waterfall approach.
  • Excellent in relationship ability and track record in creating mutually beneficial within the corporate Sector.
